after the freeze

FL members, how did your yard do with that last big freeze we just had?

my yard was hit pretty hard. Nature did a hard trim on most of my plants.
I am not too worried tho, they will all bounce back.

here are some pics:

of course I could not wait but had to cut and trim the blackness, filled 8 big black garbage bags.

Evelyn

UnhappyPoo!

BWaaaa!!!

Stupid, stupid cold weather!
Sorry for your damages GT, I know that you'll have it back to a beautious paradise as soon as the weather settles.

I haven't dared to peek under the tarp to see if my arrangement of lights worked to keep
some of my half-hardy plants warm enough - I'm not sure I wanna know. *sigh*

That is so sad. It really amazes me how fast FL gardens recover from the massive storms. I'm sure you'll have your garden looking wonderful in short order.

I 'm so sorry to hear about the big freeze, you guys had.
it makes me so sad to see all that damage. But I must agree with Ellie "you'll have it back to a beautious paradise as soon as the weather settles".

It just isn't right that you guys got that freeze. I was wondering how your plants were, so sorry to see that frost damage. Hoping they bounce back and are more beautiful then before! That darn cold weather needs to stay up here where it belongs! Of course the sooner it leaves here the happier I'll be, lol! Please keep us updated on your beauties GT.

Red face

Mine was hit pretty hard too. I took a few days to assess the damage so I didn't get too upset. A bunch of stuff died altogether and some look totally freezer burned... Hoping they will all bounce back and look good. Other things look refreshed though. lol

thanks to all for the kind words and condolences and I agree the cold weather should stay up north where the plants know how to deal with it.

zuzu, surely your plants are sleeping securely under the covers you provided for them.

Bernie, you are so right, the hurricanes are worse, the damage is lasting compared to a freeze damage.

Kathy, what did die on you? maybe I grow it and can give you a divison?

o my goodness...looks like no one is having a very nice winter this year ....
At least my gardens expect that kind of treatment ... your poor babies probably didn't know what hit them!
Look forward to your recovery shots when everyone is all perky and warm again!

Smile

What died... All the dwarf oyster plants, Sweet Potato Vine, "Blackie" Sweet potato vine, 2 Stevia, Cuban Oregano, Pentas, Pothos, Blue Daze, Pink Syngonium, Arrowhead vine, - nothing that broke my heart though.

What looks dead... 2 Allamanda Shrubs, Allamanda Vine, Black and Blue Salvia, Buttercups, 2 Phalaenopsis Orchids. I'm hoping these will all turn out to be ok. We'll see.

Thanks for the offer Evelyn. I'll be out there today getting it all cleaned up. This weather never ceases to amaze me.

I don't have any of the plants that died on you Kathy, the only one 'was' pentas, and that bit the dust here as well.
my black and blue salvia seems ok, I can give you cuttings if yours won't come back.

Natalie, exactly, your plants prepared themselves for the cold..... the recovery shots may have to wait a loooong time. I think I did a big mistake of trimming everything back already. If it gets cold once more, I will have serious losses for sure.
I learn from my mistakes, though.
