Any Brugmansia experts.....??? Brugmansia sanguinea mystery pollination...

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone could offer some insight here. I have a B. sanguinea that has now developed a seed pod. As I was searching for information it looks like it cannot self pollinate. So...how do I have a seed pod? The only other things that I had blooming were 2 different Iochromas (cyaneum and australe 'Purple Prince')...but is this even possible....? Or is there another possibility?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Rose

Hi Rose, congrats on your developing pod.

I don't believe that the Iochromas were likely to have gotten intimately involved with the Brug -
'though they may possibly get involved with each other at some point.

My guess would be that the pollinator (moth, or whatever) which visited your Brug had also visited someone else's Brug ...
and did what pollinators do.

Thank you, I was very excited...but confused, haha. This is in my encolsed greenhouse and I don't know anyone else around growing any. I will have to look around in the there, I have several other varieties and maybe I just missed the others flowering (?)....or, I'll just wait and see what surprises I get growing the seeds!
Thanks Zuzu!
