| I heard from one friend and she says the power is out and will be out for awhile in the whole city of Houston. She is staying at the Hyatt and not at her house. She has a good job that is close to the Hyatt."its a mess" Downed trees pulled down all the power lines in her neighborhood. None on her house thank god. She has Big trees over her house. Very shady old neighborhood with Big trees.. |

| Woohoo! We got power back! We made it through in great shape - only a section of fence knocked down and several plants we had just planted in the last few weeks knocked over (easily fixed). A few of our more established trees lost a couple branches, but no major damage at all. We had all water and sewage service working fine throughout. We lost power about 11:20PM as the hurricane was rolling through. There really wasn't that much rain, just a *lot* of gusty winds. I heard reports that my area had sustained winds of 110mph with gusts to 120mph, but I am skeptical of this (I would expect more damage in the area if that were true). The eye arrived about 3am and I dozed off to sleep for a while. Around 4am, the back side of the eye arrived and the winds were *much* stronger than the front side of the storm. About 4:30am, I was concerned about whether we had made the right decision on staying. The north wall of our house was being pelted by shingles off of a neighbor's house (I didn't know what the debris was at the time - it just sounded really bad). Surveying the damage in the neighborhood and most houses in our area lost shingles, sections of fence and trees. We made out like bandits with very little damage at all. There are still a lot of folks around us without power, and debris is everywhere, but I'm on cloud nine about the power being restored. I was expecting it to be out for another 3 days to a week.

| Thank goodness it was just shingles pelting your house, PlantSwap! Glad everyone around here is safe. Been listening to the radio and hearing interviews with people who don't even know if their home is still there! Scary. So thankful so many others escaped. Diana Lynn |
