Not a problem at all for us. We are 900 ft above sea level and very safe where we live. Actually, most of the rain fell west of Austin in the recharge area for our local lakes and Lake Travis which was 25 ft below normal is now only 7 ft below normal thanks to all the rain falling in the right places. We consider this rain a blessing and there is no major problems in our area due to it other than a stupid person or so who feels they can drive through a swolen river road crossing. Things are growing like crazy here and appreciate the rain which has pretty much ended a three year drought period for us in Central Texas. Hope you are thawing out up there and actually getting a chance to do some real spring gardening by now.

I think Austin has endured at least 2-3 years in a row of severe drought. The aquifer systems that feed central Texas were critically low. This rain is truly a blessing.

Our shop is below a hillside and flooded from the heavy rains but with the lake levels so low it was worth a little cleanup to have them filled again. Now they are actually above normal pool and the drought is over! Glad you are able to start working in your garden now.

Lakes on the Rise

Speaking about the way above average rainfall we had in March, it caused Lake Travis to rise 21 ft from it's low in Dec 06 to it's present level in April.
Look at the difference.
