Bluebonnet Growing Questions

I am hoping to start some bluebonnets this Sept/Oct using scarified seeds.
Does anyone have any tips on what they have tried, but failed or tips on how to do this successfully? I will be planting them on a north-east sandy slope.

Put the seeds where you want them to grow as some hate to have their roots disturbed. I have killed several of the different colored ones but the blue ones work well! : )

Thanks!

I have heard that bluebonnets (lupines) can be planted in ice cubes and then the ice cubes planted where you want them to grow. This is supposed to increase germination rate. Have you ever heard of this? What other colors did you plant? I am only familiar with the blue ones, although I have read that there are 5 varieties native to TX.

I have a red one that is beautiful! Also just planted some mixed colored ones I wintersowed. One of our other plantswappers told me she soaks her seeds overnight in warm water and has a 90 some percent success rate with germination. They are beautiful aren't they?

There are many colors and even bicolored and minis, of which we are growing this year. They are just setting on their first set of leaves!!
