Allergies!Gaaaahhhhhhh! They are killing me! I tried to pot/spot the plants I inherited from the recent Galveston County plant swap this morning and the Central Texas pollen is hammering me. I can barely breath right now. It gets me every Fall. ![]() |

| How in the world did Central Texas pollen get over there to Clear Lake! Was out on a ranch near Blanco all weekend and never had an alergy problem. Cedar season here goes from Nov. thru Jan. Don't blame us Last edited by txbeyer; 10-09-2006 at 08:39 AM. |

| There are enough local allergens in Houston to cause major allergy problems. I had them when I lived there, primarily mold and air pollutants. Believe it or not, mold levels in Austin are consistently high, even with our lack of rain and lower humidity. Every area seems to have its own set of allergy causing conditions. The folks in Central Texas suffer considerably from the cedar pollen (actually junipers) but for some strange reason, that doesn't bother me like mold does. Even ragweed was a non-factor in central Texas due to our drought conditions. Overall, my allergy problems haven't been nearly as severe as they were in Houston. Hang in there and don't let those allergies prevent you from getting your fall gardening done. ![]() |

| Yeah, I lived in Austin for a few years when I studied at UT. My father-in-law also has some land nearby in Central Texas. Every time I go out there, I have difficulties. I can tell when Fall arrives in Houston/CLC - it doesn't hit me at any other time of the year. I guess I need to just buckle down and take some Claritin or something. I got some really nice plants that need to be repotted or planted sooner rather than later. ![]() |
