What's Growin On In The Greenhouse

I think my greenhouse is what keeps me sane in the winter .. When I'm cold to the bone I can grab a chair and go sit in the greenhouse and sweat awhile communing with the plants and lizards. I'm pretty sure the oxygen levels in the closed up greenhouse is a bit higher than normal as well because I seem to gain some kind of clarity in thought.

On my morning visit today, the greenhouse gifted me with some wonderful blooms!

This one was a surprise .. it's an Aquatic Morning Glory, Ipomoea aquatica. I was hoping it was the yellow one but it wasn't .. I'm not too disappointed - I hand pollinated it and hopefully I will get some seeds but from what I understand, these don't set seed readily.

Remember the cuttings of the Red Shield Hibiscus, Hibiscus acetosella I took awhile back? They are blooming! I always love the red flowers with the red stems and leaves.

Another surprise was the El Capitolio Hibiscus I got from Zuzu - It bloomed! The flower is about half the normal size but that's what usually happens with tropicals overwintered in a relatively cold at night greenhouse.

And almost always the Orange Ice geranium has blooms to warm me up with it's intense orange.

looking very nice X...so nice to have blooms in winter. I dont have a greenhouse but my indoor plant room is alive and well this winter. One of my passifloras just got done wit another bloom. Others are climbing all over the place. Have an adenium about ready to open its first bloom buds. An 8 month old seedling.

Thanks River .. I'm having to spend a few minutes every morning cutting off new tendrils on the passies so they don't strangle their neighbors .. everything is packed in so tightly and with this really weird warm Fall we are having everything is growing! They are suppose to be going comatose but that's not the case and it's causing problems because I have so many passies this year.
