Weather - This is so WRONG!

Yesterday the high was 80 degrees, today 76. Personally I'm loving this but it's wreaking havoc on the perennials in my garden.

My Snowflake is blooming .. normal bloom time is the end of January beginning of February.

The Chinese Lantern Abutilon hasn't stopped blooming!

And my Confederate Rose is leafing out.

I'm seriously concerned that there is not going to be much of a Spring this year if this keeps going on and we end up getting normal winter weather next month - hard freezes will knock everything down. Even my brugmansia is starting to put on new growth at the base which means the soil temperature is way above normal for this time of year.

I WISH it were like that here! But it has been so weirdly warm in Mass this winter. I did notice this weekend that the tree buds are forming now and thats unusual. I had been told all last summer that "this winter" was going to be a bad one. Lies!

it seemed we skipped the spring season last year, going from hard freezes straight to record heat bursts. looks like it will repeat this year

WOW. Nice. My snowdrops are still waiting for their turn. But I can see some white with the green.
I love that abutilon. You have it out in the garden?
I have a Hibiscus like yours... but it's in a big pot, and it's up to the ceiling. No flowers. It's about 4 years old (seeds I collected in Hong Kong in October 2006).
It's huge but I don't think our summer is long or hot enough. Last year and this year I could see tiny buds but it was already time to get it inside.
Disappointed!

Same here. Today's expected high: 56 Normal highs in 20's or maybe 30's. I just saw some of my spring bulbs have 2 and 3 inch shoots. Haven't even put my winter tires on my truck yet. I keep thinking that winter will just slap us in the face overnight and none of us will be expecting it. I'd rather it just come and be done with!

We're back into the mid 70's again today .. have the greenhouse wide open - it had gotten up to 90 by 10am closed up and the kitties will have access to their veranda as well.

Your kitties are so cute taking the fresh air out on their private veranda.

Wow! If things keep going this way you may not have a winter this year.

Ours are staying well above normal also, none of the plants outside know what to do, but most are staying quiet so I expect we will be getting some winter before it's over.
