| Don't dress up, and I can't scare the little kids anymore....so Halloween is just plain old boring now. Made a few little kids cry and had a mild confrontation with a parent(of course I scared the crap out of him too). I guess carrying a rub axe and being covered in fake blood is just too much for some people? Most of the kids we get now look old enough to vote. What's that all about? Scott (I'll make you pee in your pants) B

| OMG Scott that's hilarious! I haven't dressed up for halloween since no one got my costume a few years ago.... kids! I was Mrs. Peggy Bundy!!! And yes they were all older kids, looking like they could vote. I was like, "You're parent's never watched Married With Children?" "Get out of my face! Didn't I see you sitting behind me in college?!" |

| I have 2 boys, they love halloween, but we keep it on more of a fall celebration level, I allow them to be ghosts, but no serial killers, monsters, or fake blood....they can do that stuff when they're older if they want to, but not at 7 and 12. We have fun with some of the scary side of it, but sometimes it's hard to know where to draw the line for them. Hubby and I love a good scary haunted house, but many are too much for kids, so we go to them alone. We allow the scarey stuff to be fun, but do draw a line at it sometimes too, you have to when you have kids. They go trick or treating in town for a couple of hours....they love to go and dress up. I remember it being one of my favorite holidays as a kid too. We don't get trick or treaters on my road, too rural, but I wish we did....we decorate with pumpkins, mums and scarecrows, and an occasional cutesy halloween thing. Halloween is fun, it needs to stay fun for each generation.

| We don't do the gore and violence. My little guy (5) came from a violent home and has PTSD. His sister freaks about monsters all the time. Doesn't lie clowns either. We do take them out to meet all the neighbors though-its a very social evening here in our neighborhood. Families wander around chatting with each other over cider and cookies at various houses. One house does games every year and puts Veggie Tales on a TV for the kids to watch while the grown ups chatter. My little girl has a green M&M costume and the boys, well always the good guys ya know: Batman, Spiderman, and a Cowboy minus guns (sorry all you NRA fans-no guns in this foster home-kids been to tramatized) Some people go overboard with the death and gore but generally, the whole neighborhood keeps it mild so it safe to take the kiddos out. (I think I'd tell Uncle Scott to stay home that night!) |

| Aww poor guy. But what you do is so incredibly important. And hey, tell 'em nicole hates clowns too. LOL! OMG I am slightly freaked out by them--to say the least. I read Stephan King's IT when I was like 10...the whole 40 pound book--in like 2 days. Couldn't sleep so I just sat and read and read. And well, at least you guys that live out so far in rural areas can show us pictures of all this cute dressing up and decorations! I want to see! |

| For those of us who love Halloween and grew up in an incredible neighborhood where everyone had a ball going to each other's houses and kids had normal fun, not gore or violence but normal trick or treat games and decorations, living out in the country where the few kids around are fast growing into the age of teenagehood, I miss that. It was a fun, healthy time and none of the "evil" or "dark" aspects existed. Our neighbors made it such fun, whether it was great decorations or transforming their homes into a haunted house. No Satanic rituals or violence represented, just a incredibly fun time for all the kids. Sounds like you guys are making great memories for your kids also Donna! |
