I have dinner here for all of my family that doesnt go out of state, meaning my sister and her family always go to my moms. My brother and wife, daughter and her family, and my niece and her son will b e here. Theres 4 of us. So theres a total of 13 all together. I love to cook for everyone. I have been trying to get the house really clean for it but my progress is slow. I only have the rest of this week and next week. I usually start cooking preparing for the feast on Sunday before Thanksgiving. And as soon as thanksgiving is over, the week of decorating for Christmas begins. Yes, it takes me a whole week to decorate for Christmas. Most things get put away and replaced with christmas decorations. I love this time of year. I dont like the weather but I love what it stands for.

Talking

Deb sounds about like what we do. Plus there is 13 of us too! LOL

We spend the day enjoying family and good food! Of course, most of us think we're comedians, so we're all trying to entertain each other! Mom, my dad and my youngest sister have us(7),my sister and her boyfriend and my Granny over for the feast. Mom likes to do all the cooking, insists that we just relax. It's lots of fun though, and good to get back together with family. We've all allowed our lives to become busy so we use this time to regroup I guess you could say. I love the holidays!

My family lives out of state, and having a lot of animals, I can't travel to see them, although their doors are always open. So we have the holidays here at home and Greg's family comes here, we have a lot of space and I like doing the cooking, entertaining, making cool new stuff, trying to add a touch of something different each year.

Thanksgiving is fun, a lot of eating, lots of laughs...
no one here is a football fan, so none of that going on....everyone's attention is on the day and on each other. If we happen to get snow, then kids can go out to build snow forts, snow men, etc, but we usuall don't have enough for all that yet.

I try to make a lot of food....turkey, homemade breads and rolls (hubby's fave is my oatmeal dinner rolls, so have to make those) 3 kinds of cookies, 4 pies (pumpkin, apple, blueberry and usually a cream pie or something) ... mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, corn casserole, sweet potatoes, gravy, cranberry oragne dip with crackers, stuffing.....mmmmmmmmmm

now I have to go shopping!!!

usually for thanksgiving, my uncle, his wife & 2 kids, my aunt, her 2 kids & their kids & spouses, my grandpa, mom dad & me are all crammed in a house & we have all kinda food, cakes, pies, pumpkin rolls, cheesecakes, cookies, breads, etc.. we play games, like pictionary or balderdash, taboo, scategories, card games, or stuff like risk.. just depends.. usually the girls are in the kitchen, preparing food together & talking about how cute everyone's kids are & getting the scoop on the rest of the family (like who's sick & who had a baby & that kinda thing) & the men are usually in the living room, watching football and/or discussing religion... i usually stay with the men, cause i feel like i fit in better & i like learning other people's points of view & stuff. lol there's always at least 3 conversations going on at the same time & some kid running around being noisy, playing with toys. then everyone shuts up long enough for us to give thanks for the meal & we stuff our faces, and after that some of us plop down somewhere & snore til it's time to go home & the rest of us play strategy games or some other kinda games, talk & enjoy eachother's company. occasionally someone plays the piano or sax. but usually not. lol

I like the idea of playing games.. might take some this year.. we usually sit outside and watch the kids play..someone usually brings wine and we all get a little tipsy before falling out for a nap.

it is fun!!

we like to play a modified version of balderdash.. basically you have 1 person who's turn it is to choose a word from the dictionary (a hard one) for people to write what they think it means (in dictionary style) & they read the answers.. the others have to try & guess which definition of the word is the real one & if they guess the correct one, they get a point.. if they guess someone else's definition, the person who made the definition gets the point.. whenever you get tired of playing, the game ends & whoever has the most points wins. they have to put their name on the bottom corner of the piece of paper they wrote on, so you know who gets the points. and it's harder for the people guessing to guess who wrote what if they all have the same kind/color of paper to write on.

it can get pretty funny. we've played it & laughed so hard we cried. lol you have to have at least 4 people to play, though.. to make it at least half way challenging. but the more people that play, the more fun it is!! cause guessing the right answer gets really difficult. lol

my mom makes definitions that are really long & we all laugh at hers when they're read, because we know who wrote it & she sits there looking guilty, which adds to the humor.. my grandma will write the most goofy things, cause she gets nervous & can't think... my uncle writes a lot of really hilarious things that are just way out there. lol it's fun!!

I'll share the oatmeal rolls, just not right now, I have to scoot out the door soon.... they are delicious, a tad sweet, and great right from the oven.

We do too! No points just funny definitions! Add a couple drinks and we get really goofy~!

Thanksgiving is my last day off until Christmas day. So we stay home, make a traditional turkey dinner, sometimes we play board games, and we're both big football fans so the game is a must!
We're always invited down to bro's house but I dont want my last day off to be full of driving 1 1/2hours each way, sitting socializing, eating way too much... I'd need friday off to rest before going back to work! My SIL's bro & parents usually go to his house.
