So down...or should that say slow down?

I think - so down - is more appropriate.

Sorry all - I'm really down about the garden work right now. Not sure why. We lost two trees about three weeks ago and I have not been the same since. Right now I just don't care about my plants much any more. The weeds are getting ahead of me and I could care less. BUT when I finally make myself get out and do some yard work I love it.

Right now I'm expecting a call any day from my daughter telling me that she's in labor and then I have a 10 hour drive a head of me. So if I'm home...I'm trying to sleep anticipating that 10 hour drive. I'm using that as an excuse not to do the yard work. Won't last much longer.

Anyway, my plants are growing right along with my weeds. Really glad to be back on line. Missed you all so much!

Well hi there, it's good to hear from you, we've missed you, too.

I think that we can all probably relate to your feelings,
I know that I've sure felt that way from time to time.

You have more important things higher up on the priority list,
it's little wonder that you aren't into the plants right now.

Sorry that you lost a couple of your trees.

Snow,
Set your automatic timer on your sprinkler and forget it until you get that grandbaby here! How exciting for you and JDKline, too! My daughter has been married a year, and I hope we don't have grandbabies until they finish school...but I CAN"T WAIT. I am so jealous!

Your time is coming shellee. Just be patient and soon enough you will have little ones running around too. I dont know about snow, but by now, for me at least, this grandma stuff is old hat. LOL Have 8 now and 1 on the way. Whats new for me this time is: its going to be a girl, Madison Lynn, and my daughter has asked me to be in the delivery room, hope I dont pass out. LOL

snow, I'm so sorry about your trees, I know that is heartbreaking. And I think eventually, when things settle down a bit, your uninterest will pass. You must think like me, you have a list, and until the first thing on that list is done (the baby being born) you cant move onto the next thing on the list. So your just kind of in limbo until the birth of the baby. For me, that phone call is looming large in the back of my mind. And I"m sure as the due date gets closer it will be on my mind alot more. I may get in the exact situation you are in right now. For me, gardening is therapy and its alot cheaper than going to a shrink. The more time I spend in my garden the better off I am mentally and physically. I think your just kind of stuck right now and soon enough it will pass. Hang in there, my friend, better days are coming. Just think ahead to the day you can hold that little one in your arms and give it a kiss on the forehead.

A list

Well, I have a list and I don't have a list. Better days are coming...let's see I've been saying that since December 2006. My parents are moving in four weeks (temporarily) 11 driving hours away. My mom needs care and my 83 yr old dad is trying his best but I'm worried about him. My husband is facing major surgery within the next six months maybe two. My step son is in his last year of high school - yea! Grandbaby is grandbaby number two and the first one isn't 20 months old yet (they are 10 hours away). Looking for a new job...the atmosphere is horrible.

BUT - God has already told me that he wants me to have a fresh start so I believe that all of the things above are leading to much better things. In fact, I would say that in the last few weeks I've really started to get excited about the future. I can't wait to be a wife, take care of my home and yard.

Yep, definitely looking forward to what God has in store for me/us.

It seems like whenever God starts "fixing" our lives-He has to dismantle some of the parts before He reassembles. He's always looking for our heart attitude. Just keep praising Him. Our pastor says-there's one promise Jesus guaranteed will affect us-tribulation-but then He goes on to say to rejoice-for He has overcome the world. He promised to never leave us also. I pray you feel His warmth and presence.
HANG IN THERE! (The plants can wait!) -D

Well, he's here. Expecting a granddaughter and got another grandson and he is just perfect.

He arrived Friday, June 27, 2008. I didn't make it for his arrival but I got to see him first thing the next day. Mom and et al are doing great.

Thanks everyone for your prayers and encouragement. I love this place!!!

AND the really cool thing. I finally got to see my daughter's new house (they got it in November). The guy who lived here before loved doing yard work. Lots of new plants to look at and some to take home.

Question - can flowering quince be without thorns? She has a plant that looks like flowering quince but there are no thorns.

Gotta go! I smell popcorn...or something.

Awww! I'm just thrilled for all of you, Snow!
What an exciting time, new baby, new house, new garden ...

Oh, and about the shrub,
I do know that there is at least one thornless variety of Quince ... cannot think of the name at the moment.
