Rain Rain Go Away

Texas has been inundated with rain, both in Hill Country and along the Coast. I posted a picture in the Gallery under Miscellaneous showing my cacti and succulent garden growing above the saturated yard - keeping their feet dry in a raised bed. The rain just continues to fall in tropical waves .on the Fourth of July. Guess that fizzles our fireworks for this evening

I took my family to the Natural Bridge Caverns this past weekend and it was spectacular in there. All the rain has saturated the limestone and it was virtually raining inside the cave! It was very wet in there and the King's Castle room looked like it had a moat - setting off the towering columns and features in the middle of the room in dramatic fashion. I highly recommend visiting the cave now while these conditions exist, because it is really different from normal conditions and really gives you some appreciation for how the cave formed in the first place.

Avery Ranch Cave - One block from where we live!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/txbeyer...7600527123101/

Look at these pictures I took inside a one room sized cave we have just a block from our house. This cave, when discovered, was entrusted to the Texas Cave Conservatory and is open only two days a year. The colors and formations were incredible. So in our neighborhood, we have a few lots that are fenced and left as cave preserves.

Sorry about that. I just transferred all my on-line pics from Yahoo to Flickr and must have overlooked a permission setting. Will fix it. Thanks for letting me know.
