Privacy Settings at Photobucket - and how to change them

The topic has come up lately regarding the privacy settings in Photobucket accounts and how to adjust them according to our own wishes.

As far as I know, the default for P'bucket albums is "Public", which means just what it says, anyone can have a look - but that may not be what you want, so they do offer some other options, and the following is the method that I use to adjust the privacy settings of my P'Bucket albums:
1. Open your P'bucket acct
2. Open the album on which you wish to re-set the privacy level
3. Look on the Right side of the page for the sub-header ACTIONS
4. Click on Edit Settings
5. In the task window that pops up, open the drop-down menu under "Privacy Setting"
6. Click on the setting of your choice (Public - Private or Require Password)
7. Click on the word UPDATE at the bottom of the pop-up task window.

Oh, and if you want to double check that your settings are working as desired, remember that you will need to log out of your P'bucket account to be able to see it as a stranger would see it.

Thanks ZuZu. Interesting, I guess. I had done this before with an Album.
I went back in today to see and I could do as your tutorial shows with Albums, but in the Library. It would not let me lock privacy to "Private" rather than "Public". It allowed me to do with Albums and not all of mine are in Albums.
Wondering if it only works on them.

There is a picture of a "lock" showing it as unlocked, in grey on top left side of albums or library and it takes you to the same setting changes.

Curious as to whether you can have all photo's as Private.
Nothing of significance was ever achieved by an individual acting alone. Look below the surface and you will find that all seemingly solo acts are really team efforts.

It may just be a matter of unlucky timing, RC.

Right at this very moment, P'bucket won't let me change any of my album settings - but earlier today (in the process of making that tutorial), I successfully changed the privacy settings on several of my albums - so I am thinking that this is their glitch and I'll just give it another try in a day or two.

I'd imagine that with a site like PB, which has such a huge volume of traffic, they are probably doing tech work almost continuously, software and programming updates, maintenance and so forth - and when they do that, it may mean that some of their features are temporarily disabled or unavailable. Just guessing.
