| I am happy to do what I can to make this a great forum. Actually, I do help a lot of gardeners from my web site "Southeast Texas Gardening" by encouraging questions and attempting to answer them to the best of my ability. ![]() As a Texas Master Gardener, we are encouraged to reach out and try to help other gardeners as much as possible. I also have an Associates degree in Ornamental Horticulture and have been active in this area since the mid 70's, so glad to help as a Moderator and share what knowledge I may have with others. Bring on the questions and comments. ![]() |

| You think your neighbor has a problem, try growing a St. Augustine or any other type of lawn where you are lucky to get 30 inches of rain per year and there are lawn watering restrictions. You guys get twice that in Houston. In Austin, one solution is to go "lawnless" and that is actually being promoted and becoming a choice here. That would solve your neighbor's problem. | After re-sodding the yard their, they installed an automatic sprinker system for summer #2. I guess xeriscaping is becoming popular in the Austin area now? I know that area has been concerned about the low water table in the local aquafers for several years now. |
