Avery Ranch Cavehttp://new.photos.yahoo.com/robertbe...60762404525825 Go to this link to see the inside of a cave that is just about one block from our home in NW Austin. It was opened for the first time for viewers this month and I couldn't believe what was just 10+ feet underground in our neighborhood. Makes me wonder what kind of natural basement we might have beneath our house! Once discovered, this lot was fenced off and is now managed by the Texas Cave Conservency. |

| Those are some colorful formations. I guess the cave is relatively unspoiled then? This reminds me of when I was working on the island of Aruba for the local refinery. They have a colony of houses in Seroe Colorado that sit on top of a massive cave system. This one is not open to the public, but if you know where to go in the neighborhood, you can find the cave opening behind a fenced in area (where the gate has been knocked down). The cave system doesn't have interesting rock formations like in your pictures, but it is sort of surreal to walk around in it knowing that it exists under the houses and homes of the area. |
