I spent seven miserable winters in Fort Wayne, and believe me I do not miss it. I suffer from generalized arthritis (all over) and I spent most of my winters crying (literally) in pain or sitting in a tub of hot, hot water, after which I cried.

Y'all are welcome to come to south central Tennessee to visit anytime!!!

Had to have cataract surgery on both eyes that really complicated alot of things for me just got my eye sight back but not perfect yet still have to wear glasses. but I can drive at night.. Now I have Charcot foot its a neuropathy deal where your bones go soft and you can't walk so I will be having some kind of surgery to put pins in my right foot then a walking boot. Dont seem to get a break these days LOL

Did order some new brugs though they are baby cuttings cant wait.

Hi Carol!! Wondered where you had disappeared to. Glad to see your back. Sorry to hear about your surgeries. Hope you heal quickly and hoping you wont have to have any more. This cold is miserable huh? I'm so tired of winter already. Come on spring!!!

Another zone 5

HI Carol,
I am from Connecticut but have a special friend that lived in Indiana and we travel back and froth between the two states a couple times a year. Connecticut has about the same climate as Indy but more snow and cold longer. We are also zone 5. Love hot chocolate and just may swing by the next time I am out there. Would love to talk and share plants we are big on saving endangered native plants and keep abreast on all the threatened and of special concern plants in my state. Actually found a plant on our property that was thought to be extinct in our area. Looked like a weed to me but saved it all the same. Hope to do some more endangered plant hunting come spring when they are easier to identify.

Swamplady Hello!!!
Yes I love saving the endangered plants and vines and tree's here as well. The way I have always looked at this Is, if we shared more of these they would not be going extinct..Inside of locking them up in a state nursery for preservation although I know they have to but we still should be able to get seeds to grow them too. Here in Indiana, Passionflowers and Matelea's and Lady slippers were once a naturalized item but I have only seen 1 passionflower vine growing on the south side of a seniors house they didn't even know what it was. That was over 11 years ago. I have 5 and 1/3 acres to grow things on and that is what I do!!
What was the special weed you saved?? I gotta know LOL

hugs
Carol

Hello to my flow hoosiers in indiana. might be crazy to say that I am growing palm trees in the backyard. but it is true I just wanted you palm trees in the back, yard. and I really hope that deal with I have a windmill palm, needle palm, chinese fan palm, mexican minor palm, a palm tree from texas, dwarf palmetto. all palms can survive zero to negative ten or more. That is why I call my self insanepalm ninja.

To Insanepalmninja Hello

Hi Insane LOL
I too love to grow weird things here in Indiana they say we can't !
Well we showed them.. I grow a couple of Brugs and some other kinds of
tropicals just bring'em all in around september before frost hits..then I have something to look at when things are cold and bleary under the lights..

I would love to see your Palms I bet they are just wonderful.
I had a friend who trimmed and took care of yards in Florida
he passed on just after Christmas but I remember him saying
watch out for those needle palms as they can get in your eyes
and cause major problems!!!

This year has been a bit rough had a right foot reconstruction
surgery so haven't been outside much. After I got a little better I got the plants out in May and my handicapped daughter has helped
take care of them by watering when needed.. she is quite the gardener
and loves big flowers...

our big garden not so much it needs weeded but neither one of us can do it
so hey its growing wild with corn and beans and onions and weeds...

talk soon and so glad to meet you!
I live right outside of Mishawaka, thats near Elkhart
Carol
