Plant Swap...August 22...Magnolia, AR (about an hour from Texarkana)

Bring plants, cuttings, birdhouses, feeders, windchimes, potting soil, etc. to be swapped. If anyone wants to sign up to bring door prizes instead, we'll have door prizes. We'll have a potluck-type lunch if anyone wants to sign up to bring food. If not, everyone should plan to bring their own lunch or make a trip into town whenever they get hungry. Remember, if you don't have any plants or garden-related items, you can sign up to bring door prizes or food instead. I am planning on using tickets to be used for swapping - that way I can use them for any door prize drawings. I plan for this to be a relaxed swap so if no one shows up with door prizes, we may not use tickets.

NO SELLING!!!! To participate you must bring plants or other items to be swapped or you must bring food or door prizes.

The swap will be held at the pavilion at Lake Columbia. Park rules include no selling, no pets, & no alcohol. There's separate areas for swimming, boating, & fishing so bring the family & make a day (or weekend - there's a place for Rvs & camping) of it.

Please register if you plan to attend so we'll have an idea of how many are coming. We especially need to know if anyone wants to bring food or door prizes.

Check-in will start at 9 a.m. with the swap starting at 10 or as soon as everyone's been checked in.

Items to bring: tables & chairs, bottled water, sunscreen, insect repellent, newspaper for your trunk, a tarp or canopy in case it rains, & your lunch just in case you get hungry. Little wagons or carts are nice for traveling among booths but aren't necessary. You may want to bring a friend so you can trade off walking around & staying at your booth.

If you bring plants, try to water them the day before so they're not heavy or messy. If you are bringing cuttings make sure they have at least two nodes on them & make a note of which end is the stem end (end closest to the mother plant). Keep cuttings wrapped in moist (not wet) paper towels in a Ziploc bag until you've swapped them. If you bring bulbs, rhizomes, etc. try to have them dried & cleaned of dirt. Put them in something like a small paper sack for easier handling. Label all plants, cuttings, bulbs, etc. so everyone knows what's what.

If you want to bring food or door prizes instead of plants we need:

FOOD: sandwiches, bucket of chicken, whatever. This will be pot-luck so whatever's fine. We could also use sides, dessert, drinks, ice

SUPPLIES: paper plates, cups, forks/spoons, napkins/paper towels, name tags so we'll know who's who

DOOR PRIZES: anything, doesn't have to be garden-related, candles, knick-knacks, etc.

Post here if you even think you'd like to come. Also, if you want to bring food, supplies, or door prizes. I am hoping to meet alot of people truly interested in gardening at the swap.
