Orchid Help![]() ![]() I have it in orchid bark. My friend said she doesn't bother with the sphagnum and hers blooms for her all the time. I am wondering if I need to water it more often (currently about once a week). Or maybe a little more light. The smaller one I think is ok. I left it in the medium it came in which is the moss. But since a new leaf is growing I think it is ok. I am careful to let it dry out. Any advice would be helpful since I do not have a great history with these. Thank you everyone! ![]()

I soak my orchids once a week in the summer. I take all of the moss off them as soon as I get them...like every peice. Its tedious but I like orchid bark much better. Mine also sit in a window where they get a few hours of morning sun a day. I've had one of mine for about 8 years. Long enough to have split it once. In fact as soon as it flowers in the fall I need to split it again. Its an oncidium gower ramsey.

Well they aren't getting morning sun. Maybe I will move them. What window do you have them in? I was tempted to take the moss off of the little one. But it has been growing that new leaf so I was afraid to mess with it! ![]()

Hi there, Yes, you are right your phal needs more water. And def more light like Pinkham says. Bright filtered light through a screen in the morning but not direct sun in the mid day. I don't repot mine if its actively growing either...if it's happily growing then that's a good sign. ![]() |
