Dragonflies....

Do dragonflies guard their ponds like hummingbirds guard their feeders?

Last night I watched a dragonfly chase off any other dragonfly" intruder" and it always returned to the same leaf after the intruder was driven off... is this normal?

I've seen them do this before, I assumed that it was cause they had laid their eggs there but that's just what I figured. Don't know for sure. But I do know they like to dive bomb me at times when I'm working in certain parts of my flowers. Heck, maybe they are territorial.

The males defend their territory while looking for females, chasing off any other male. They also hunt on the wing, they are the fastest flying insect. This is the Yellow-legged Meadowhawk.
