Bird? Or moth!

Today I saw what I thought was a hummingbird, sucking on the honeysuckle... I walked up to it for a closer look, and it turns out (after some research) it is a Hummingbird MOTH! Wow, this moth looks, and acts JUST like a hummer! (It even makes a humming noise from the very rapid wing movement)

(I did not take this photo myself, compliments of google image search)

My husband was fooled when we lived in Michigan by one of these little guys, they are really neat to watch.

We had a few of them at my last house. They are so much fun to watch. They aren't as shy as hummers so you can get closer to them. Just go back to the same place at the same time of day and I'll bet you get a chance to take your own pic of it. The ones that came to my house came every day just before dark and stayed for quite a while. They loved the allysum.

I do hope they come back! (there were 2) They should love my honeysuckle (which I have TONS of.) It's as close to a hummer as I think I can get here in the city.... We tried hummingbird feeders before with no luck...

Can't wait to check on him today too!

I love these little guys. I have some that come out in the summer right at dusk and last year they help to pollinate my Brugmansia!!!! I got over 200 seeds to prove it!

!!! They came back today around the same time! There's 2 of them. I hope they become regulars to our honeysuckle. They seem to like it, and I cant imagine how much they will love it when ALL the blooms open (thousands!)
