With all the time off I've had lately.....

Being out of work is kind of fun, until the bills come in!

I go for walks almost daily to get the job-hunting blues out of my head. And I always carry my camera! Here's a few shots from this week:

American Tree Sparrow{Spizella arborea}

Northern Mockingbird{Mimus polyglottos}

Northern Cardinal{Cardinalis cardinalis}

I'll try to add more as a go for more walks.

Thank you for those kind words!

Most of the above came from a Canon PowerShot SX10IS, but I believe some are also from the troublesome Sony a350 w/Sigma 70-300EX APO.

As far as my 'eye'.....well since I've started wearing glasses my eyes have been seeing a little better.

Scott (thanks) B

I have a bit older camera, a PowerShot SD750. It's probably not as high quality as yours but it takes pretty good photos. I just can't hold my hands still enough to get shots like that. Do you use a tripod?

Is this a mockingbird? That long tail sure looks like one. They're pretty but can be pretty big pests when it comes to other of our feathered friends.

They are all awesome shots. Good luck with the job hunting. I'm adding you to my prayer list.

Oh I just adore the close up shots of the sweet lovely birds,

I love to see the birds especially on my birdbath and the feeders,, lately been having problems with the pigeons now that its getting colder, they grip on the finch sacks and flap wings at the tiny feeders, any tips,, ?
Zuzu said no hot pepper as birds get that in their eyes scratching and preening,,,, I cant seem to get rid of them no matter what I try,, the skinnier ones knock out or down all the food for the bigger ones,, they keep holding on and flapping wings... while this is a bird thread,, please advise,,? thanks,, blessings, Beth
