Unbelievable summer

I just can not believe our loss of pets this summer. First, we took little rocky the raccoon to the game preserve that just broke my heart. Then our little kitten that we had adopted that was a stray came up missing. And now, we just lost every koi in our pond. About 7 of them. I am just sick. And thinking I need to go find our house cats and make sure they are alright. Geez. What's next? I am just in shock.

Oh I bet not Bali!! I have some good news though. One of the fish I had snatched out of the tank and put back in the pond. He was floating on his side and I thought he was a goner. I went out there to check a little bit ago and he was swimming around!! He made it!! I'm so glad. Hes about 2 ft long. Very pretty koi. I'm so glad we have at least one left.

Two of the ones we lost were that size. The other 4 were babies from last year. We have had him for 2 or 3 years.

Oh my gosh.

Then you must have them in a large area to be that long.
Are they purple?

Nope, no purple. The one that lived is black on top and white on the bottom. One that died was orange with black specks. The other one was a butterfly koi that was orange and black. Those 2 were about the same size. Now my husband feels bad because hes thinking it was his fault that they all died. We were just out there talking today about how we worry over them and take care of them like they were our kids. The goldfish we have are huge too. We've had them for 5 years. The biggest pond we have is probably 12' x 12'. I"m just guessing at the size but besides that one, we have 2 more. So, they have plenty of room to grow.

That is sad.

That would tear you up then. I arent up on fish. No I doubt if it was his fault. They probably get stuff like anything else.

God bless .

sorry JD

All of us that love animals, fish or any pet get bummed out when things go wrong! Hope ya have better days ahead of ya! My daughter was little and had hermit crabs once and lost them, I don't care for things like this and she would put them on the floor and I would scream and say don't let them near me! But she had to have them and she really cried when they passed!

Oh JD what a time you're having. That is heartbreaking and hubby feeling responsible, that's the worst. We love them and cherish them because they are family. Hope this guy thrives now and that you guys soon add some company for him. It would be interesting to know what happened, wildlife around? Hope the kitten returns and surprises you.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Actually, it was something my husband did that killed them. He didnt allow for air to get into the water but on top of that, I think the tank was too small for the size and amount of fish this year. Its a 300 gallon water trough and last year they were fine in it but this year they were alot bigger. But he wasnt thinking about the oxygen in the water so he didnt leave anything shooting water into the tank, therefor forcing air in the water. He didnt do it on purpose , he just didnt think about it. And on top of that, this is the second time he has done something to kill our koi. We had some good sized ones a few years back and he went and bought some chemicals for the pond while I was at work and put them into the pond. Within the next week, we lost all of our koi then. But again, he didnt know he couldnt use those chemicals in it. And I realized what he had done too late. I finally found the container once the fish started dieing. The little kitten has been gone for over a month now. I seriously doubt that he will come back. Thanks again everyone.
