| Sounds like a good deal to me, but one question, what type of algae eater did you get? If its a common plecostamus it will get too big (they get 3 ft in the wild) for most aquariums, and chinese algae eaters like to eat the slime coat off of goldfish............ Just remember goldfish produce a lot of waste some you will need to over filter your tank and do frequent water changes....... Good luck with your new babies! P.S. I have 9 waiting for spring to warm up the outside pond so they can join the rest...............

| well now i know that when my 1/2 inch algea eater will have to be moved when it is 6inches long |

| I'd move it before that, its a habit they start early............. If you get a placostamus, get a bristle nose type, they stay small and won't harm other fish..............

| Awww I"m so sorry for your fish losses. I hate that! I think I would put some ick and ............I cant think of the name of it.......it puts the slimy coating back on the fish........in the tank......maybe take out some of the water first and replace it........I have my koi in a 55 gallon tank inside the house this winter and I've fought a couple times to keep them alive. I hate losing fish. I feel for ya. Hugs Deb |

| dkline, are you thinking 'Stress coat'? ok, part of the problem is that a five gallon aquarium is way too small for that many fish.........the rule of thumb with goldfish is one per ten gallons of water. That doesn't mean you need 55 gallon or bigger aquarium, but a 30 gallon would be better then what they are in now. If you can, get them in something bigger as soon as possible, as for filtration, this is an absolute necessity, goldfish by their very nature are 'dirty' fish, meaning they produce a lot of waste, and that waste breaks down forming ammonia among other harmful things......... I have 14 larger fancy goldfish in a 75 gallon aquarium (most will be going to my pond this spring) and yes its too many for that tank, but I compensate by doing weekly 50% water changes and the aquarium is over filtered. (meaning I have twice the filtration it needs) Hope this helps, and good luck.......

| They may have room to move around, now, but its the waste they produce that you need to worry about.........
