TalkingZuzu's Garden Thru the Seasons * '08 - '09

My glasshouse is stuffed to the gills for winter,
and it's a little embarassing to share this picture, I've seen how neat and tidy some of your greenhouses are,
and mine is usually better organized, too, I promise - but ....
well, right now it is just stuffed to the MAXXX!
I can barely get in there myself to have a good look around
or even to keep things properly tended to, it's like going into a jungle,
I feel like I need a machete.
But I do try my best, and yesterday, I even managed to snap a few pix.
I thought someone might enjoy seeing them at this time of year.

A couple of Orchid portraits, first:

Otaara Jane Fumiye 'Hawaii'

BLC Christine Fleishman 'Volcano Queen'

BLC Nacouchee 'Mission Valley'

Some cuttings of Christmas Cactus I received are doing well,
they're still just small plants, but blooming right on schedule:

Schlumbergera bridgesii

and last (for now), but definitely not least,
the Blue Butterfly Clerodendrum cutting that I received back in the spring,
from another very dear PlantSwap friend, is also blooming now:

Clerodendrum ugandense

Thanks for lookin', hope you like.

Thank you for sharing those beauties! It's cold and gloomy here today, that really brightened it up for me. That last pic was gorgeous!

You know, I don't ever really remember not being into plants,
some of my earliest memories are of playing around and "helping" in both grandparents gardens,
and even though we moved constantly ( military family), my mom was always planting and growing things, too.

zuzu I think your Greenhouse is lovely. It doesn't look that disorganized. The heater is cool also.

I love your Cattleyas, I never have to much luck with them. I have one now that is looking ok. It needs to be transplanted but everytime I do they just die!

zuzu...I have 2 orchids...prett pricey ones....one is a type of cattleya, I have to look up their names...
Anyway, I don't do well with them, maybe its the winters here, and they get too cold? they look nice in the summer, but through winter, get blah ..then take all growing season to get back into shape...

would you want them, come spring? maybe do a trade, or something, together, I paid about $55 for them, and don't want them to just die, or to never flower...the pamela one is an award winning orchid I bought at the local greenhouse....afraid I'm going to do it in.... you are obviously good with orchids....so let me know if you want them and I'll send them when the weather turns nice again.
