MI gardeners

I'm up in Oscoda it's July and I'm waiting for the garden to start growing. Where the Heat? My plants still look like starts 2 months after I planted them! Everyone here said last year was unreasonable cold, I really think it's colder this year here than it was last summer. I went to Sq. Ft. gardening and so far the best part of the garden is chasing out the black squriels, and seeing everything going to flower (broccoli) before it heads. HELP!

I just wanted to put this out there for all us Michigander's I'm totaly going
Marianne's Summer Perennial Swap and Field Trip
Date: Sunday August 9, 2009
Time: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Author: torchwoman1
Type: Appointment
Reminder: There are reminders set for 3 days and 6 days before this event.
Location: Marianne's place
Street: 10089 W Coldwater Rd
City/State/Zip: Flushing, MI 48433
Summer perennial swap will begin at 1pm until ???, Sunday, August 9th, rain or shine... let's hope it shines All are welcome to come! New gardeners who do not have anything to exchange, are still welcome- I will have something for you! Plenty of parking perpendicular along drive so no one should get parked in or need to park in street.

For this swap you should bring potted divisions of perennials you wish to trade, as it could be hot outside and we don't want our plants to suffer. Bulbs and seeds, garden decor are also acceptable for trade. This will be a round-robin style swap, to ensure everyone gets something they really like.

Children are welcome, and we will have some activities to keep them occupied Anyone wanting to swim should bring their suit and a towel. There is no lifeguard on duty, but perhaps my son or husband will watch over the pool if I kick them hard enough- hee hee. The pool is 4'deep x 15' round. Lifejackets for littleuns are encouraged

Anyone wishing to bring a dish to pass is more than welcome to. I'll be firing up the grill with probably brats and dogs throughout the day

After the exchange (somewhere about 3pm or so), we will carpool to the wholesale pond garden place (about 3 miles away) for a tour!
( http://www.easygrowin.com/index.html ). This is a great place to get pond plants of all kinds, and learn about pond gardening too. If you will be attending this field trip, please RSVP so I can get a count to forward to them. They are planning some special things for us! Even if you do not have a pond garden, this will be an event you will not want to miss.

Hi all! Michigan here too! Anyone in the Detroit area? I am half way in between Detroit and Toledo. Would love to find a plant swap in my area or find someone to trade cuttings with, who is local to me.

Thanks so much Lorraine

Hi,
I'm a zone 5'er. I live in Traverse City. I would love to meet others in the area who might be interested in plant swapping or seed trading. I am also very interested in hosting a plant swap/seed exchange in my area.
