Northern NY

Just wanted to say hello. I'm new to this site and I enjoy gardening. Most of my gardens are heirloom, and I save and trade most of my seeds. So hello from the northern border. Travis

Hi, I'm down in the Binghamton area. Between zones 4 and 5 but also on a windy hill. I have started collecting heirloom seeds and probably have about 100 kinds now. A lot of them I will be doing for the first time this year and I'm way too excited about it. We grew a lot last year, but it ended up being wasted because I was pregnant and ended up being too sick to even go into the garden much. Having a baby my moments of having two hands to type are limited. I have spent some time reading in here during his naps, etc. I haven't managed to list what I have yet. I'm trying to get pictures and descriptions of what I'm growing together to have a "book" of them and to post in the garden as my dad likes to take my 5 year old daughter picking. He comes from a family of farmers, which it turns out isn't always the same as gardeners. This year it is more important for everyone to know that all tomatoes aren't red, and all peppers aren't green, if you know what I mean. I want to do canning, drying, freezing etc. like I would have last yr. Also trying to figure out what wintersowing in this area amounts to. I've never heard of it before, but it sure sounds good.

Hi All,
I live near the Niagara River between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. The water helps keep my area a zone 6 though winter is still too long!

Hi Everyone, I'm in Rochester, NY...i think its Zone 6.
It sounds like everyone is spread all over the state. How do you arrange a plantswap in that case?
