NEW: Buddy SwapSign up ends Monday, June 29th. I'll assign buddies June 30th. Buddies will be assigned by random drawing so the person you send to may not be the one who sends to you. You'll have until the last week of July to mail your buddy's box. If for some reason you see that you can't mail your end, let me know ASAP so I can get something to your buddy. Make sure you have an updated have & want list on your profile page. Or a link to one somewhere else. Buddies don't have to send plants but they'll need an idea of what you have & don't have if they do send plants. Boxes can contain plants, seeds, candles, items reflecting your buddy's interests or hobbies, whatever. Be sure to include a letter to your buddy introducing yourself. Include any comments or instructions for the items you've sent. Priority mail isn't required although you may want to if sending plants. Delivery confirmation IS required. Once you mail your box, post the tracking number here. To sign up, post here with the following information: (1) Kinds of gardening - flowers, vegetables, houseplants, water/pond, herbs, etc. (2) Any garden problems - soil, pests, health issues (you don't have to get specific or personal) (3) Besides gardening, what's your hobbies & interests? (4) What, if anything, do you collect? (5) Home Life (6) Misc. Information - likes/dislikes, allergies, anything your buddy could use when picking out things for you Email or PM me your username & real name & address. I will then forward this information to your buddy once I've assigned buddies. |

| Okay, I'll sign myself up. Here's my answers: 1. I grow vegetables, herbs, & flowers. I'd like to eventually have more herbs & fruit, nut, & berry trees/shrubs. My favorite flowers are things like canna, daylily, iris, & hosta. Also wildflowers or anything that multiplies & needs little care. 2. clay soil, deer, rabbits. No health issues except the knees are starting to show some wear & tear! 3. I'm a nerd I guess cause I like reading, watching t.v. & movies at home, hiking, spending the day at the lake, hiking, going to flea markets & thrift stores 4. I collect refrigerator magnets, those Left Behind books, & the Left Behind books for kids. 5. Married with an 18 year old son who just finished high school & I hope goes on to college. Also a 16 year old girl who'll be a senior this year. We are down to 1 outside dog & 1 hen. We're debating on giving her to someone with other chickens or getting her a rooser. 6. As far as I know I only have seasonal allergies. I'm a coffee & tea drinker, chcolate lover (obvious when you see my butt & thighs! lol!). I like candles, windchimes, etc. |

| (1) Kinds of gardening - flowers, vegetables, houseplants, water/pond, herbs, etc. I can't do house plants...my cats love to eat them. I love flowers...especially carnations. Vegetable and I don't do well. I need something that needs very little attention. I don't have a water/pond thingy yet...but would like to in about five years or so. (2) Any garden problems - soil, pests, health issues (you don't have to get specific or personal) I have deer in my yard every morning, evening and around 2 am. Right now I have health issues and I don't feel like working in the yard. BUT hoping those will get resolved over the next several months. (3) Besides gardening, what's your hobbies & interests? I love people. I like drag racing. I love the outdoors. Like to camp and would love to boat again. (4) What, if anything, do you collect? I like to collect reading glasses 1.75 (or we can try 2.0), the wilder the better (I use the $ store but I think I've cleaned them out in my area). (5) Home Life - I love relaxing in my tub with candles all around me (love the bubbles too). I have a wonderful husband and 2 daughters, a step son (all my kids are out of high school now), a son in law, and 2 grandsons. 3 cats and 2 dogs. (6) Misc. Information - likes/dislikes, allergies, anything your buddy could use when picking out things for you. I don't do wind chimes - hubby doesn't like them. I don't have allergies that I am aware of or that will stop me from doing things. I'm not to drink caffine anymore - it affects my sleep but I haven't given up chocolate yet. |

I'm in To sign up, post here with the following information: (1) Kinds of gardening - flowers, vegetables, houseplants, water/pond, herbs, etc. Strictly decorative plants: roses, hydrangeas, hosta, and flowering perennials. (2) Any garden problems - soil, pests, health issues (you don't have to get specific or personal) With roses, there's always new problems, but I have good soil, the climate is good here for four distinct seasons. On a personal note, I have had 3 years of health problems that have sidelined me as far as my career goes. My gardening has helped to fill the void my health has created. (3) Besides gardening, what's your hobbies & interests? Historical research; right now I'm interested in 13th thru 17th century England. And, of course, I have two cats, one of which -- Puddles -- is my baby. He is suffering from a viral infection and is stuggling to overcome it. I can't even consider the alternative. (4) What, if anything, do you collect? Nothing anymore that has to be dusted or that makes clutter. Mostly I am now into trying to collect certain plants for a given area of my yard. (5) Home Life I live alone with my two cats. I garden during the day and do historical research at night. I mostly eat out although a friend of mine is staying in my spare bedroom for a while so the grill is getting more use. I have one son who lives in Maryland. He and his wife have the real love of my life--Lincoln who is 17 mos. old and the most beautiful child I ever set my eyes on .(6) Misc. Information - likes/dislikes, allergies, anything your buddy could use when picking out things for you. I like pale pastel colors (except in particular pockets, like around my mail box where I have 2 red knockout roses planted and my canna row where I have screaming bold colors. I have gotten interested in small succulents and would like to fill up some empty spaces in my little garden. I will post pics of it later. I'm not interested in receiving seedlings to trees--my yard has all the trees it needs. My next project involves building what I am calling "Iris Lane" where I plan to plant most of my irises along with pink (light and dark) peonies. I want to go ahead and plant in the same space pink tulips, blue squills, and white crocus.

| Are there any limits or recommended limits on the gifts we select? Since some people have fewer resources than others it seems that we should have something less than the 'sky is the limit.' I for one would hate for anyone to feel bad about the gift(s) they can afford--although the best gifts may well come out of our own gardens that anywhere else. Just a'wonderin'.
