I'd love that too.
I will put in a request to the administrator for a Recipe sub-forum in the Miscellaneous section.

If he agrees, it may take several days -- and if it doesn't work out,
we can always post one or more recipe threads in the Coffee Talk forum,
it's just that it'd be easier to find them if they were all in one place together.

Maybe we can title it "Garden Recipes" cause I really don't want to know what people can do with a can of campbells. I like REAL cooking and want to see those old fashioned vegetable recipes like soups and salads and squash-and I agree with Beth-let's keep it simple. If I have to go buy a measuring cup for it to taste right-that's just too much fuss. My favorite way to eat cabbage is to cook it down and add rice and hamburger or potatoes and hamburger. Sometimes I use a tomato broth, maybe even a little sour cream-but if I don't have it, garlic and salt will do just fine. Simple and yummy!!!
I would like to know if anyone grows bok choy or leeks. They make the best soup base but I can never find seeds. Anyone have any ideas or grown any? Know where I can get seed?

I vote yes and here is my favorite summer recipe. I eat it for lunch many a day and a side for dinner. Fresh garden tomatoes, cucumbers, little onion, fresh basil and italian parsley, olive oil and vinegar!

Yum-do you use one part vinegar to one part olive oil? Sounds so refreshing! Does it taste good with apple cider vinegar?

I've never tried apple cider vin. but not one part oil to vin. Just a splash of vin to taste and I forgot to say a bit of salt and pepper. It is wonderful and as the last tomatoes go I start to think about the next seasons crop. Just a note it is not that good with those hot house tomatoes from the food store!

This year just started off small. Tomatoes, Hot pepper, bell pepper, spaghetti squash. Will post a picture of the squash in bloom today. Also have mint, lemon balm, stevia, greek oregano, TX tarragon and sweet basil. Next year plan to expand the herb garden.

I vote yes for a recipe club. Here is one of mine. Cook boneless chicken breast in a little olive oil, when brown on both sides add quartered cabbage and a little chicken broth. Cover and cook until cabbage is tender. GoooooD.

Oh yes, sweet basil, oregano or tomatoes, sometimes all three. Makes a different tasting dish.

herbs

Are these easy to grow? Do you grow them right in your garden with your tom, and other veggies, or do you have an herb box? I had never grown herbs but thought about trying?

I suppose it's like anything else, a matter of personal preference,
but I LOVE fried green tomatoes.

I'll stick my simple recipe for them in the Kitchen sub-forum.
