Sprouts

Anyone sprout? I got an easy sprout, and started some mung beans. Tasted them at 24 hours since their first soak and they are awesome. I started with a pound of seeds and I think Im going to have to order more because Im going to go through them fast.. Im growing them because I want them to be big, but they are yummy at 24 hours.

I like alfalfa and broccoli and there are salad mix sprouts and sandwich spouts...radish spouts are great if you like a little nip in your salad or sandwich.

A lot of them have leaves starting, you can see some in the left on the second picture. They were starting to get a bit bitter at this point though. Do they continue getting bitter?

Sprouts rule! It's the indoor garden that harvests wonderful healthy delicious food just about every day. I found a great big food dehydrator at a yard sale. Now I have 15 trays, 16" in diameter. Can rotate stock and grow lots of varieties. The whole thing cost me ten bucks, I tossed the motor part. Much cheaper than ordering sprout trays online.

I usually have a tray of lentils sprouting all the time. About a buck a pound at the grocery store... I know they're not organic, but they sprout well, leading me to think they're pretty healthy.
Always have alfalfa on hand for every dish you prepare and sandwiches and snacking.

Have just started growing my favorite, Sunflower seeds. Yum mmmmmm me!

Good luck on your sprouting.

Don't forget to stuff a few sprouts in your fresh juices!

Sprouts are sure a healthy and fun way to eat fresh while you wait for the rest of your garden to grow.
