Somebody please answer my question about garlic which is: What is the best climate and soil to grow garlic?

It will grow pretty much where any other vegetable will grow. I have it growing in my fence row here in southern Middle Tennessee (zone 6b-7a) with no special attention at all. It just keep popping up in different places so obviously it reseeds itself freely.
