SmileLuther Burbank's "Wonderberry" (solanum burbankii)

I decided to begin a new thread, dedicated to the wonderberry plant.

I've shared seeds for this wonderful edible variety so I'm sure many of you are interested in how they grow. The seeds germinate super fast and the seedlings grow very quickly in full sun. Please feel free to discuss this plant or show pictures of your own. I will be showing on-going photos in this thread.

I grew my wonderberry plants from seed and they began to produce berry buds very quickly.

Here are my plants today. Berry buds are developing everywhere!!!

Here's a close-up shot of the buds. One is open today!!!

Up until now, I was showing them in this thread if anyone would like to see how they looked when they were younger....

Anyone growing Solanum Seaforthianum?

You can make jam from the berries or eat them fresh. I've never tried them but it looks like it won't be long before I do!

More pictures soon....

A second bud is opening today beside the 1st one! Now they can pollinate each other!

The plants themselves are only 6 to 8 inches tall...

Yes, they are so fun to watch, Raccoon.

Well it's not my imagination....the leaves are definitely getting more blue each day. Here they are tonight. See the two in the front with blue edging?

Cool that the leaves are gonna be pretty too, not just the berries.

Speaking of berries....did you see some in my picture?

I can't believe how quickly my plants are packing on berries! It's crazy.

I'll get another shot soon.

Nothing yet. The soil has moved a teeny tiny bit though so soon it should happen!

Well....drumroll...I believe I may have my first sprout! Gonna wait for a day or so to make sure it's not a rogue piece of greenery like what happened with my geranium.

Ok this will make you all feel better!

Check out this link from the exact source I ordered my wonderberry seeds from. Scroll down and find Solanum Burbankii Wonderberry, and have a read. Says nothing at all about them being poisonous...

Just a quick shot of the back of my plants that I snapped today for you guys!

It's truly amazing how easily the fruits set on these plants.
