lemon tree

My mother in law (90) when she passed away had a lemon tree that belonged to her mother. I have inhereted it. The lemons it produces are Huge. I was wondering how I can get some starts from it. I tried in the past using rooting hormone, but it didn't seem to work. It's a great tree and I am afraid that something will happen to it and it will be gone. Is it possible to grow new lemon trees from seed-I just realized something else, the tree has to be self pollinating as there isn't another lemon tree for miles! Not in Arkansas-not even as a houseplant like mine-
