Thanks, Raccoon.

There's something about having to wait an extra long time for a seed to germinate, that makes it extra special when it finally does!

Keeping the seed in the fridge, provides a cold-stratification period and ultimately tricks the seed into thinking it's had a wintertime, thereby breaking dormancy and germinating!

This is surely a happy time, after waiting for so long.

Thumbs upGood luck, Raccoon!

This has got to be one the most interesting little mango seeds I've ever seen germinating!

I think it's going to replace my latest growing mango tree, because I can only keep one. This one is definitely going to be it!

You can see where the seed has split down the middle and there's a fat red trunk with some yellowish leaves at the top and nice white roots at the bottom. How utterly cool and pretty!

Thought you guys might like to see the beginnings of my new Ataulfo mango tree...

It sure is different. I just love the color! Mango seeds are so fun and pretty when they germinate.

Looks like my other mango tree is going to my girlfriend who has black thumbs!

Well he's gonna have to get over it Raccoon because I've been waiting for a unique tree that's different from the rest...and this one definitely qualifies!

All the rest just grew like normal and didn't do anything special but this one is totally unusual. I feel like it's a sign that this is the tree to choose to grow.

It's in soil now...waiting for it to emerge. More pictures soon.

Thanks, Everyone!

So glad you guys are enjoying it as much as I am.

I agree that it is wild looking. That's why I just had to show you guys. The seed split right down the center! Isn't that red trunk just gorgeous!!! And check out those amazing roots!

From the very start, I loved this particular seed and knew it was different from the rest. Compared to the others, it was very tiny and compact. It had a cute shape that was unique.

Cathy, I soaked it in a glass of water for a few days, then I buried it a couple inches beneath the soil, in a pot. I thought it was taking longer than usual to come up, so last night I dug it up and that's when I discovered how awesome it was. Rinsed it off with water to take a picture for you guys.

I love it so much, I must get one more picture of it before the roots stay buried forever. It's too cool not to watch up-close.

More soon....
