i'd be more interested in the old fashioned way to do stuff. i think it'd be a nice, interesting hobby to get into.

my friend said you can make up to 200 gallons of alcoholic beverages for personal use per year, according to some federal law... i dunno if that's true or not.. but that's A LOT of alcohol for one person. lol

man.. that mead was good! so i hope your husband's mead turns out as delicious as the kind that i had! that's the kinda stuff you wanna just grab the bottle & drink it all. LOL very yummy! if it turns out well, i'll buy some!!
keep 400 gallons of home made wine, beer, mead, hard cider etc. in the aggregate. I make wine and beer from my own fruits and plants and even though I do a lot of entertaiing at the farm, and store wines for several years (i have some 15 years old), 400 gallons is an awful lot!

Hi Onyx, We've never made mead but now I think we'll give it a try. We make our own wine, ale and this last year tried our hands at brandy. We had 3 different batches of cherry, apricot and peach. I saved the pulp from each batch and made fruit butter. The cherry is our favorite on hot buttered bisquits hands down.
We enjoy having a glass of our own labor occasionally, especially on those cozy evenings out on the deck star gazing.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd add my nickel's worth here.

I just found an old honey cookbook and it has a recipe for making mead. I'm about to give it a try, so if it works, I'll let you all know.
