I too love hummus but it is so expensive to buy at the food store. Have you tried this recipe? Seems easy enough - might be my new favorite snack!

that's the way I make it...

I think it tastes great that way but I prefer to add some virgin cold pressed olive oil and tahini (or roast sesame seeds)

Tahini recipe:

5 cups sesame seeds
1 1/2 cups olive oil

Preheat oven to 350. Toast sesame seeds for 5-10 minutes, shaking the seeds frequently with a spatula. Do not allow to burn, light brown is best. Let cool for 20 minutes.

Pour sesame seeds into food processor and add oil. Blend for 2 minutes. Check for a smooth, thick, yet pourable texture. Add more oil and blend until desired consistency is attained. Makes about a quart.

Tahini should be kept refrigerator in a tightly closed container. It's for up to 3 months.

+1

If you can find imported tahini from the middle east in a local specialty store, I highly recommend trying it. It just tastes different from the ones produced here in the states.

Hummus rocks!
