Oatmeal Dinner Rolls

Sorry I'm a little late sharing these.... make them for all your holidays!! They go over big! This recipe is a double batch

2 cups water
1 cup quick oats
3 tablespoons butter or marg.
1 package dry yeast
1/3 cup warm water
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
4 3/4 to 5 1/4 cup flour

in a saucepan, bring water to a boil: add oats and butter, cook stirring for 1 minute. remove and cool to lukewarm
in a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in the warm water. Add your oat mixture, sugars, salt, and 4 cups of flour ... beat until smooth. Add enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. Turn out and knead about 6-8 minutes, until soft and elastic.
place in greased bowl, cover and let rise for about 1 hour in a warm spot.
punch down dough and rest for 10 minutes...
shape into balls and bake in round cake pans, just circle the pan with them.
bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes until golden brown .... serve warm.

yes but if you get sick of doing it you can put it in the freezer and it can stay there I think up to 3-6 months so you are not always messing with it.

You want the recipe? I have it from how to start the starter to finish?

Thanks, I do have that recipe ....
someone else here may like it!

I've made sourdough bread before too, you have to keep that starter on hand and use it every so often.....getting the sour milk ready and doing it all the time, kind of made me sick ... lol. ... so it didn't last past the first loaf.
lol
