I love making my own beauty products LIG!!! My favorite thing, especially during fall and winter is making my own body butter! I buy coconut oil at the grocery store. Then I scoop a couple heaping spoons into my stand mixer bowl and break open a vitamin E capsule and whip it til it resembles frosting. It feels divine when you rub it on after a hot bath or shower!!!!

What a fabulous thread, Ligster!

I adore homemade beauty products...and most especially for my long hair.

Nerd, coconut oil is one of my main natural skin and hair care product. It's indescribably amazing.

For my hair, I use 1 cup of warmed coconut oil and 1 tsp of peppermint oil. The peppermint oil balances the scalp's ph and prevents dandruff.

I apply it to my dry hair and scalp and comb it through. Then I cover my head with a shower cap and leave it on for about an hour before washing and conditioning as normal.

Leaves my hair soft, shiny, and frizz-free.

I also like yogurt, eggs, and olive oil for my hair too.

For those that have dandruff:
Rinse you hair with 1 cup of white vinegar. The smell will dissipate when dry.

Great idea, Lig!

Apple cider vinegar too, is a great deep conditioner that will leave your hair soft and smooth. Helps the ph of the scalp and prevents dandruff, just like the white vinegar does.

I also love honey on my hair too. Warm water will rinse it easily out with no stickiness. It also leaves your hair shiny, smooth, and frizz-free....but only the raw, unpasteurized honey....not the grocery store types.

So many other natural recipes to share over time. Thanks for starting this terrific thread, Lig.

Mayonnaise hair masque for dry hair

Apply about 1/2 or 1 cup depending on hair length and thickness

Apply to hair and comb through

Wrap hair with plastic wrap

Leave on for no less than 1 hour

Rinse well then wash with shampoo

No conditioner needed

I have been using this for over 20 years and it does wonders for my hair.

Your hair will thank you. It leaves your hair silky smooth and shiney.

I've used mayonnaise in the past too Lig, and it's phenominal. I'm told it's because of the egg. I've used mayonnaise made with olive oil.

Another good one, is cucumber slices or tea bags, for tired, puffy eyes.

I didn't know about the honey.

Vinegar not only is good for dandruff, but it also cleanses the hair of any build from styling products.

When I started using the mayonnaise hair treatment it wasn't made with olive oil and it worked just the same. The olive oil is an added benefit
