I am sure it is a catalpa tree.......
It bloomed this year and is now growing the long beans like things.

Your photo has more leaves.. It is a fragile tree, you can break a branch off as easy as a leaf..

I grew it from seed and want to see it mature.

I just ran across this thread. Were you lazy about removing the base. You might find that it will res prout and since it is a very quick growing tree, you might get your beloved tree back again. We had a mimosa that just grew sick, up and died. We cut it down and two years later we had it back again.
