Koelreuteria Paniculata- Golden Raintree

I was on a class field trip to a grower this past Wednesday called fragrant path. He has a seed catalog, and does mail order seeds.

Now he has a friend that was on vacation I am not sure where, but he found a dwarf variety/cultivar, of koelreuteria paniculata, he said it stands about 6-7 feet tall. Now has anyone ever seen it in any nursery, i haven't up here yet. I wish i could because I don't see it used enough in the landscape. It has a great seed and seed pod, i love the lantern shape of it, and how it is in clusters. So if anyone has seen it please let me know what the name of the nursery is or if you have any seed because I would like to get it germinating here this winter.

Thanks

BR

There are lot's of golden raintree trees around here, but no dwarf varieties that I have seen.

I agree with that.. I've seen plenty of the regular raintree but no dwarf varieties either. I wonder it's an immature tree or a new cultivar that has yet to be introduced.. It would be nice to know since I would love to get my paws on one of the dwarf ones. Always loved those trees but find them too big for my postage sized lot of land here..

Just did a little research.. It's new cultivar in a few arboretums right now. Probaby will be a while be it will be available to the public.. Would be nice to get though. Will be keeping my eye out for that one to become public.. Thanks for letting us know about it..
