UnhappyGolden Chain Tree

Hi Gang
Just re checked the progress of my Golden Chain Tree...........I am shocked to discover that it is not going to flower this year!!!!!!!! They are a "marginal" zone 5-6 so, unfortunately, this can happen periodically. Very disappointing!!
Apparently a cold snap over the winter can kill the buds that will produce next years blooms.
This happened one year with my Cornus Kousa (Chinese Dogwood), not a single bloom.
Oh well.....this is how we learn.
Take care
Gary

Very sad to hear it wasn't a good year for the tree. Hopefully, next year will be better!

Can that happen with weeping willows? I have one and it hasnt bloomed
(leaved out)at all, yet when I cut a part of a stem its still green. Whats going on? I dont think its dead. Do you? Any suggestions will help.

If the stem is scratched and the stem is green underneath, I would just leave it for the time being. Not sure as to why it has not leaved out yet, that is a mystery.
Keep us informed with its progress.
Take care
Gary

Aw, Gary, I'm sorry to learn that your gorgeous tree is going to skip flowering this year.
