lol do you have a broom or a ladder? You can get up on the ladder or stand on the ground and knock them off.

yeppers, i sure do! lol i have this doohicky that is from our old house... it was used to collect the pears from the tree back there (we had 2 pear trees & an apple tree).. it's this stick, like a broom handle or a rake handle (wooden kind), with a small, old coffee can nailed to the tip.. the coffee can was cut so there's a V shape in the mouth of it, which cuts the pear from the tree.. so i bet that would work with the walnuts, too i could scoop 'em off the tree with that thing, while standing on a ladder, with a wheelbarrow to dump 'em in. they also come off of the tree & land on the ground & sprout (but they get mowed down.. ). hehe

i was just wondering if i have to do anything special to them? they have a hull on them, which i'm sure should be removed. lol

FYI -- do not share black walnuts (trees or otherwise) with people who have horses...very bad for horses and makes them founder.

Sure! People need to be aware of it if they have horses...they can't use any black wlanut shavings in their stalls, or anything. So, its good to know.

Some more info on this tree. http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/1000/1148.html
There is one in my neighbors yard and it wiped out my tomato garden. Just as the tomatoes were getting nice, the roots of the tree must have killed them. Well, next year, I'm going to have to try a different location for my tomatoes. Can't cut the tree down since it's in my neighbors yard.
