Cherries from Cherry tree... who knew?

My mother in law brought me a bag full of cherries, picked from her sister's tree. they are currently in my fridge, being picked at and awaiting their delicious culinary faith.

I was wondering. Would it be possible to grow a cherry tree from them? (considering they have been in my fridge for a day now). Or would it take too long? I am 28 years old now and do not wish to get my first cherries when I am 85.

Also, if it IS possible. And someone would like to trade. Let me know!

Cherry Tree

Hi
It is quite possible.........get the wheel chair or walker ready as you will need it by the time it will produce cherries........kidding.
It will take quite some time though. I contacted my local garden center last fall and asked them to bring in "bare root" trees. I got cherry (3 varieties), apple(4 varieties) peach and pear trees....all were just $15.95 and averaged 6-8 ft tall. If you buy them in a pot, they usually cost about $35.95.
I would go that route instead.
Take care
Gary

I got a peach tree for $15 three years ago and we've been eating small peaches for the past two. The fruit are getting bigger each year and the tree is beautiful when it blooms. I put a PVC pipe in the hole with the root ball and water through there and the peaches always taste very sweet and juicy-even in our clay-soiled-drought-land!

Hi
My son planted 15 cherry seeds after he ate them , 7 years ago, the tree is now 7 feet tall, (only one of them took seed), I get cherries off of them, if I get them before the birds!

Well I just came back from the Garden Center, and got 50 % off trees 8 feet tall in the container, because they are full of fruit and have to go into the ground, they just delivered 7 of them
2 plum
5 apple

Plus a rasberry bush, and 2 grapevines (2 feet tall) 50% off as well

and it just started raining, life just doesnt get any better!
