will crotons root from leaf cuttings?

I have a really weird croton that I bought at Ikea (I LOVE Ikea ). I'd like to er, spread the love of this strange plant. It's not super huge and doesn't look like any other crotons I've seen. Just wondering if I could cut a leafy stalk and try to root it? It pains me to cut plants and I don't want to hurt it if it won't take anyway.

It's a croton revolution. I googled it and came up with nothing.

Here's a link to a pic: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pukkapukka/2466477484/

Thanks!
Melissa

Cool! I hadn't ever seen that variety before.

You'll need a stem cutting, rather than a leaf,
I've had luck using semi-hardwood cuttings from my 'Mothers & Daughters' variety.
Air layering is another recommended method.

Both methods are well explained on the Croton Society site,
just click on "Beginners Tips", about ˝way down the menu on the left side of the page.

Hi Melissa, I did see that plant before on one of the other sites.
That's different, I like it. Tomorrow I'm going to run to Ikea, I hope
there in this area also. Nice Buy

Will crotons root from leaf cuttings?

I thought this might be a new plant that grew croutons from the root and leaf lettuce at the top (hee hee!)

Thanks for the info!! I don't think she's big enough to cut yet. Hopefully she will get big and bushy soon and I can have more of them in the house. She is definitely a beautiful houseplant!
