Hiya B Good to see you. Congrats on your new plant!

I really enjoy growing "Ti plants" (Cordyline), some of them are beautifully colorful.
I treat them as houseplants during the cold months, and mine are still indoors now since the nights here are still dropping into the low 40s - but I will move them all outdoors as soon as I can trust the lows to stay above 50.
Basically, I follow the same rules for "Ti plants" as I do for my "Corn plant" (Draecaena).
While they are indoors, I make sure that they get bright, filtered light and when they are outdoors, I make sure that they get a bit of dappled shade.
When they are inside, I keep them a bit on the dry side, but I water them pretty generously during the summer when they are growing rapidly.
I only fertilize them during the "outdoor" months.

Hope that helps.

Yes, they bloom late in the year for me, and I don't usually bother with pictures because the flowers are not much to speak of,
but here is a pic I took back in November of 2011:

I think the foliage is much, much prettier than the little flowers.
