Rhododendrons - Just the beginning

Our Rhododendrons are starting to put on their show. Always an inspiration
and sign of spring/summer on it's way.

Fantastic, RC! What a great show!

We are actually getting some of our coldest weather of the winter just now, and that's going to make a mess of the Camellia blooms which have been giving us an early taste of spring.

I do not think there is any genius on my part, Bali. Thanks for saying so.
They perform every year with minimal care other than water and fertilizer.
They would suprise you just how cold they can take it.

I have more than I should admit. There are over 130 plants/trees now of species, hybrids and cuttings planted out. The majority are now 10-16ft tall now over a period of 20yrs.

A in heated greenhouse is all. Cost to heat through out the winter months would
be something that I am not interested in.

I agree......My neighbor has one but she has a couple of grown sons who have a heated garage (Wood fired) an she connects on to that in the almost spring time.. Say about 6 weeks before our grown season she starts seeds.......Lady.. But like I said her sons provide it all for her.
I envy that........However we cant have it all.
Your yard is gorgous on the 3 photos I can see there, on your page, I cant open the other ones listed.

Very, very pretty! I've got wild rhods growing all around my creek. One is probably 30-40 ft tall. Its very old with huge limbs.

Bali.... Cool. I've always had a cactus garden pot and maybe a few more, but now we have a huge cactus garden with a lot of room left for more varieties. For Valentines my boyfriend got me 30 little baby cacti/succulants and made a potters bench and plant stand, all out of scrape wood. More to share when they get a little older.
