A Really Stange Fern!!

I recently found and bought one of the stangest plants I have ever seen, Microsorum steerei or Oil Fern - it's hard to believe it's a fern when seeing it. I call it a slick plant because the surface of the frond looks like an oil slick! Native to Viet Nam, southern China and Taiwan, this plant lives in boggy areas and requires a moist shady location. It can be epiphytic or terresterial. The plant kingdom never ceases to amaze me with its diversity.

Cool. Thanks for sharing that. It looks really exotic.

I remember when Ford Motors came out with a strange multi-color paint for some of the high-end Mustangs they were (are?) selling. The paint sort of shimmered different colors depending up on the light and angle at which you looked at it. The darker leaves in your picture remind me of that paint.

Actually, upon further research, Microsorum steerei is a syn. for it's real name which is Microsorum thailandicum.
