Question about leaf colors

Moderators, please move this if needed.

Not too long ago I bought a Ludisia discolor Alba, which is a Jewel orchid but it has green, not maroon leaves. When it arrived, I realized that "Alba" is quite misleading. I recognized this plant as being a hypomelanistic variation of the species.
This got me to thinking.... are there any other examples of hypomelanism in plants? It is quite common in reptiles and some other animals, but this is the only example i've seen in a plant.
Any scientists on here?

You might try sending txbeyer an PM with your question. He's been busy lately and not visiting the forum as often as he has in the past, but I suspect he can answer your question.
