QuestionGrowing Sansevieria from cuttings?

I planted a couple of cuttings of a sansevieria called Bantel's Sensation. It has vertical stripes on the leaves. The cuttings haven't done anything for 6 months, but sure must have formed a bunch of roots because I just noticed that two new shoots are coming up. The problem is - they don't have the same leaf pattern, they have a more common sansevieria pattern. Is this normal for sansevieria? I thought cuttings of any plant always gave a clone of the parent plant.....

Every time I have done Sanseveria from cuttings they have always come back with the common pattern. I have done this several times. I do not know why they do this. You will probably only be able to propagate from divisions to get the fancy ones.

That is because they revert back to the parent plant. The only way to get the same as a fancy variety, is rhizome divisions.

Thanks Bob and tsilentseed. Wish I had known before worrying over those cuttings for six months, lol! Lesson learned.
