smurfy, I don't know if the Aechmea Blue Tango is rare. I bought it a few years back with a hefty price tag, but it pups freely for me.

Pooh, sorry your brommie is not flowering. But some take longer than others. So, which variety to you have? is it in ground, in sun or shade? do you have it potted in the house?
It may just not be mature enough
make sure it gets enough fertilizer and water, mine have water in their 'cups' at all times.
They seem to respond to Epsom Salts, sprinkle a little around the base and water it in.

you can't overdue with Epsom Salts. sprinkle it around the plants, I'd think it be pry a tablespoon per pot.

there is another method, but I never tried it. you can stick the potted brommie into a paper bag with a ripe apple. close it up and leave for .....hmmm.... a few days, I'd say. I am not sure but apparently the gas from that ripe apple triggers flowering.

Thanks gone tropical,

It sets here on the floor between 2 rooms . No direct light at all.

Only thing I read was water them in the center of each plant not the soil.
Kind of like a cup there where the bloom pops out.

I never seen one before this..
Only when it quits blooming, the plant dies and new pups come up .
