GT, WOW, oh WOW! NICE!! That second pic you showed is absolutely a knockout brom! GT, would you happen to know the name of my second pic?

Thanks missg & Bernie.

Let's get some participation going. This way we can also learn more of bromeliads, along with their ID's as well! And see beautiful pics too!

Thanks Diane!

GT, I'm wondering the same thing. I think we do have many southerners on PlantSwap tho. I would think bromeliads are hard to grow and keep alive up north.

GT, please continue to post your beautiful bromeliad pics okay?
It may be that there are not many people growing broms, or, maybe theirs are not in bloom yet GT as this thread is entitled 'Bromeliads In Bloom'-Join In.

Okay friends, let's see some bromeliads in bloom.

Only a few ...

Flowerdazed, it's very nice to see your Aechmea fulgens happy and beginning to bloom,
and here is her mama,

and a closeup of the bloom when it's color is further developed.

If you allow the inflorescence to remain on the plant, it will turn the coral color that gives it it's common name,
and I usually leave them on the plant to dry and then use them in arrangements throughout the holiday season.

Here is another one that is just coming into bloom for me now, Guzmania 'Loja':
This one is Aechmea fasciata ("Silver Urn"):

And from back in the spring, Bilbergia nutans ("Queens' Tears"):
